2015-07-24 Lake Oneida

Time to get our stuff back in the car and to pack up the boat. All of us have a better tan after today! A perfect day on the lake.

It was quite windy at sea, which kept us cool, but on the way back to the marina the peaceful surroundings were as beautiful as in the mid-day. We did not get back until several hours later.

Here they have reached some more speed and the horizon is leaning due to the photographer not knowing what she is doing.

Brad and Amanda on the tube. As you can see it is a rather large lake.

What? You mean me?

We all agreed that Arvid needs to improve his tan.

Thanks Katy for a wonderful excursion today!

I had to use this picture even though the colours are bad. Two families arrived on this art noveau boat and immediately the dog, a labrador, jumped into the water. Then the women took out camping chairs to sit in. Finally the men put on hats and took a beer each and stood and talked close to the boat. They certainly know how to do it.

Amanda on the tube.

First we went to this beachlike place to relax and play. Lots of small boats arrived, we had nice music from our neighbour and lots of sun. The boys started out with a ballgame.

We managed to get five people on board and a lot of belongings and food and there was still space left on the boat.

The way out to the canal reminded me of mangrove swamps in Thailand.

Today we had a wonderful outing at Lake Oneida, the largest lake in New York State. It is 33 km long and almost 9 km wide so it is quite a large lake. It is connected with lake Ontario and the five great lakes boarding on Canada. On average the lake is almost 7 meters deep.

We started at Bradbury's Boatel Marina, a very peaceful place with large trees that give a wonderful shade in the sun. Waterlilies grow in the shallow water.
