2015-07-22 Columbus Chapel And Boal Mansion Museum
Documents in Spanish from the 16th Century.
The Colombus Chapel, placed in a special building on the premises. The writing desk from Colombus's travels is in the box to the right.
This is an amazing museum. We were guided around for 2 hours and we only saw a fraction of the items available. The house has been owned by the Boal Family for 300 yrs and not much has been changed. All things are preserved except for the ones in the basement, that have suffered from water damages.
The Boal Family has descendants from Columbus and Napoleon among others. There is a ballroom inside with chandeliers and other memorabilia. The original furniture is still in the house. There are lots of china and glassware. There are also French ballgowns from the 19th Century and a few pianos. Rifles and swords in dozens. A few carriages. Fans. Many, many paintings. Letters from presidents. One family member sponsored the finding of Tutankhamons grave and there's a book on that along with lots of other books.
A member of the Boal family lived in the house until last year so most of the work with presenting and identifying all the items remains. We saw only the bottom floor. There are no pictures from within the house in this blog.
With a lot of time there are tons of interesting stuff to take care of here.
